Iron Bike Disappointment

On Saturday, the 15th of may........ big disappointment. I started on an extreme mtb race near Oradea, called Iron Bike Oradea, the first of this kind in the country as far as i know. I had as teammate my old friend, Pete. We had some problems right after the start as Pete's water-bottle felt off. Then after we just went behind the group in the dark. After 15 km of asphalt we arrived on the paved terrain and finally reached the first checkpoint. After a few meters from the Checkpoint my chain broke. No problem! I got the right tool for that, (Zozo thanks a lot) and after 4-5 minutes of struggling  with the chain, we managed to continue. After pedaling 2km up in a village, i had the biggest technical failure in my cyclist history, my gear hanger broke with my chain, downhills, i don't get it. Maybe because of the mud Couldn't do much after that, Pete pulled me into Check point 2 and we waited there for the rescue car to take us home. 52 km, thats all we did pedaling, pushing and pulling. For the end here are some tough riders, the last 12 km's pedaling on the naked rim, and they took the 3 place.

Last preparations for Iron Bike Oradea

I'm workin on the bike, doing some preparations for the big race, i had some problem with the brakes, the rear wheel, and the rear derailleur also had some problems. The package for the race will contain some clothes, windstopper jersey, a pair of socks, shorts, tools, energy bars and some other stuff to. Maybe i'm too optimistic about finishing the race. I'll do my best. I'll get back later, right now have to work on the bike. :D

XCO Maros '10 - Results

I'm over it, and i'm safe. For my second XCO race, thats not to bad. I came 16th in my category(Amateur 19-29) and for that i got 10 RGP(Romanian Grand-Prix) points.

After exploring the track on Saturday, i didn't had any hopes to finish the race in one peace, but i made it. Made through all the difficult parts except the "the Big Ditch"(see lower post picture). My worst nightmare was my ride, my adrenalin level was so high i didn't saw my rear wheel coming out of its position, so i made my last track with my rear wheal brake-disc caught-in, (i wondered why the uphill u-turns were that difficult). After our race the Professionals came in action and showed the crowd how its really done. I was glad to see them racing cause i know how far i am from their level.  All together i had fun and got some race experience. Thanks at the guys from Maros for the organisation, thanx for my friends for cheerin' me, thanks for the photos to. See you next race!
